Bobby Scruggs served 38 years as a NASCAR official and was the founder and owner of Racing Image in Roanoke. Bobby passed away on January 22, 2005, after a 13-year battle with cancer, but he “Never Gave Up” and he truly appreciated the support of the NASCAR family throughout his fight.
The Bobby Scruggs Charitable Foundation was established as a component fund of this region’s community foundation, Foundation for Roanoke Valley, to:
- memorialize James R. (Bobby) Scruggs’ longtime dedication to the sport of motor racing;
- to honor and commemorate his integrity, forthrightness, dependability and respect for others;
- to raise scholarship funds for young men and women who are pursuing a career in motorsports; and
- and to pay tribute to his long and determined struggle against cancer.
Bobby Scruggs Charitable Foundation is a Charity participating in the NASCAR Day Giveathon 2024 a Giving Day event, presented by The NASCAR Foundation.
