Advocate and Educate so we can Eradicate DIPG - a lethal pediatric brain tumor.
Our story actually began in July of 2004 when Candace was born. She was the first great-granddaughter among a slew of boys on her daddy's side. She was perpetual motion and smart as a whip! She had her whole life in front of her. And then, in November of 2009, we realized just how short her "whole life" was going to be. She was diagnosed with a diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma - DIPG - a type of non-operable, uncurable type of brain tumor. She was given a death sentence at age five.
Candace fought to live each day to its fullest - every day for 16 months. Her legacy is our determination to end DIPG. It is why we fight in her honor. Some day, Candace will be part of the cure, even if her treatment couldn't save her. Her life meant something. She will not have died in vain. So we fight. And we invite YOU to be a part of that journey, as we strive to fund research for healthier treatments, a longer quality life and ultimately a cure.
Candace's Cause is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization committed to promoting awareness of and raising funds for the advancement of research leading to a better understanding of this type of childhood brain tumor, so that the future holds a better prognosis for children suffering with DIPGs, and ultimately, a cure.
