Womxn of Wealth Foundation, Inc. was founded by AdaPia d’Errico and Jennifer Burnham-Grubbs. Both women have established careers in the financial industry. They recognized a growing need and desire for wider and deeper conversations around finances amongst women, especially when they are grounded in self-empowerment, knowledge, confidence-building, action and accountability.

When we started manifesting Womxn of Wealth, even with our financial backgrounds, imposter syndrome secretly reared its ugly head in both of us. Running the familiar narrative that if we truly were capable women in the world of finance, we’d already know everything the other person was talking about. This inhibiting narrative held so much sway that it felt humiliating to ask any other questions and seek to genuinely understand the other’s field. It was at this moment that lightning struck.

We thought about how many other women feel afraid to ask questions for fear of sounding ‘dumb’. We thought about how impossible it is for any human being - male or female - to be an expert on the entire gamut of financial subjects, given their scope and complexity. We thought about how men rarely expect perfection from themselves before choosing to assert authority, yet here we were - powerful, knowledgeable, experts - silencing ourselves because we didn’t feel we had enough authority!

We did the research and discovered, to our delight, how much the data supports female capability when it comes to all things financial. Even in math, science, and other fields of STEM, women have more than enough skills to excel, so long as they believe and understand this truth.

We started having conversations with more women and found that many of them wanted to better understand and openly ask ‘dumb questions’ about financial matters but felt that structural support for these kinds of candid conversations didn’t exist.

So, we built the support system and rooted it in a community.

WOW launched in February 2022 and over the past year has made an impact on women, their finances and changing the trajectory of their families’ future. Our program provides accessible and effective financial education, tools, resources, and mentorship to help women overcome financial barriers and achieve long-term success. By teaching them how to budget, save, invest, build credit, manage debt, find gainful employment or start a business, we help them break the cycle of poverty and build a stronger, more stable future for themselves and their families.

Empowering women financially leads to a healthier and more vibrant society, as they are able to better provide for their families, contribute to their communities, and drive economic growth. Ultimately, lifting women out of poverty helps to create a more just and equitable society for all, especially for their own children. We are moving women into financial literacy, fluency, then mastery by providing a community where women can openly share, ask questions, and learn how to create sustainable and generational wealth.

Today, young women are staying in school longer, graduating high school and going to college at significantly higher rates than women of previous generations. Yet, only 4 in 7 Americans are financially literate; mostly white males. A lack of financial literacy leaves women vulnerable to abuse, financial strain, and poverty. Women living in poverty are an underserved population. Financial education is a needed form of personal and economic empowerment that lifts women out of poverty and changes entire ecosystems, families, and generations.

Our mission is to elevate women by helping them gain the tools, knowledge and confidence to take wealth-building firmly into their own hands.
